The Heart of Thrive

What if your worst season became your greatest testimony?

Written from the depths of federal prison, Thrive: From the Inside Out is more than a memoir. It’s a call to courage, healing, and purpose.

With honesty and grit, Delton shares his journey from shame to strength—and the surprising joy he found behind bars. Through it all, God was writing a bigger story… and it didn’t end with his release.

If pain is inevitable, let’s not waste it. Let’s recycle it.
— THRIVE, Chapter 11
  • In Thrive: From the Inside Out, Delton de Armas shares a powerful testimony of God’s redemptive work through hardship. With honesty and biblical wisdom, he reveals how surrendering to God, enduring trials with faith, and finding purpose in adversity lead to true transformation. This book is a compelling reminder that even our darkest seasons can be where God’s grace shines brightest. I highly recommend Thrive to anyone seeking hope and renewal in the midst of suffering.

Dr. George M. Hillman Jr., Vice President for Education, Professor of Educational Ministries and Leadership, Dallas Theological Seminary

  • One misconception about Christianity is the need to follow the rules. But God isn’t concerned with rules—He’s concerned with faithfulness. Scripture tells us, ‘Without faith, it is impossible to please Him.’ Faith—and acting on that faith—is the essence of Thrive: From the Inside Out.

—Christopher Pipkin, Church Partnerships Manager, Prison Fellowship

  • Thrive: From the Inside Out is a fascinating insider’s view of life in prison by a repentant follower of Jesus. Delton’s transparent work from his forty-seven months in federal custody is intriguing, insightful, informational, and inspirational. Anchored by his faith in a gracious God, his journey turned from devastation to transformation. The result is a lasting commitment to all impacted by the experience that shaped his family and friends. If I were still pastoring, I would initiate a ministry to families of the incarcerated, and this book would be our training manual.

—Dr. Jim Henry, Pastor Emeritus, First Baptist Church of Orlando, Former President of the Southern Baptist Convention

  • As a friend of Delton’s for many years, and as his pastor, I am inspired by his journey and his honesty while telling the story of his incarceration in his book, Thrive: From the Inside Out. The truth is that many of us, whether incarcerated or not, have been in a prison of doubt, fear, and hardship, and this book gives practical information on what it means to surrender and to experience victory. This book is one of hope that only comes through faith in Jesus Christ. I have always believed that God wants to recycle our pain to serve others who are walking through the same pain. Delton and his wife, Pam, have done exactly that, using their experience to serve others who are imprisoned and their loved ones who are affected by it. I am so proud of them both and how they walked through the valley, allowing God to use it all.

  • I had a front-row seat to Delton de Armas’ season of surrender, survive, and thrive. I witnessed a man who, in his darkest days, kept his eyes on Christ, and strengthened his relationship with his wife, children, family, and friends. This book is not a guide to surviving prison; it is a story of how to live out one’s faith regardless of the situation. The truth is that we all experience life’s prisons—Delton’s story inspires us to persevere with joy, faith, and resolve.

—Dr. Larry Taylor, President, Association of Christian Schools International

  • In Thrive: From the Inside Out, Delton guides us on a powerful journey from suffering through survival and ultimately to thriving. No matter where you are—whether enduring your own season of current unpleasantness, just getting by in mediocrity, or already thriving—Delton’s story will inspire you to fully embrace the life in front of you. It encourages you to live with hope, live with purpose, and live with the assurance that true life is found in the Life Giver. “When we surrender to God’s will, we can not only survive but truly thrive!”

—Adam J. Moffitt, Owner/Advisor/Consultant, Raeton, LLC

  • Delton de Armas’ personal story is of how God’s grace changed him and sustained him though all circumstances. Delton is a true Man of God and the story of his life experiences will inspire every reader. The book is moving and honest and will allow you to see how in the most difficult of times, Delton relied on his faith, family, and friends. Thrive: From the Inside Out is a story that we all want to hear and will be praising God when we’re done.

  • Delton de Armas’ powerful memoir—Thrive: From the Inside Out—is both a deeply personal account of transformation through hardship and a call to action for churches to better support families affected by incarceration. Delton effectively weaves biblical principles with his lived experience, creating a narrative that speaks to resilience, faith, and finding purpose in difficult circumstances. Whether you’re facing your own difficulties, supporting someone through theirs, or simply seeking inspiration in an authentic story of redemption, this book delivers powerful truths that will stay with you long after the final page.

  • Thrive: From the Inside Out is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit—a gripping journey of a man physically imprisoned yet utterly free in heart, mind, and purpose. Refusing to let his circumstances define him, he embraced each day with unwavering passion, proving that true freedom is not found in open spaces but in a soul surrendered to its divine calling. This book is more than a true story; it’s a breath of fresh air, raw and unfiltered, revealing not just the struggle but the triumph of a life lived with intention. We don’t just need more books like this; we need more men like this—men willing to rise, lead, and carry out the mission Jesus entrusted to us all. This read is a call to live boldly, love deeply, and thrive from the inside out.

—Joe Rangel, Lead Pastor, Soba Church

  • I’ve seen Delton’s story from up close and have witnessed Gods power in his life. Anyone reading his story in Thrive: From the Inside Out will be inspired and moved to rethink their calling.

—Maina Mwaura, Freelance Journalist, Minister, and Author of The Influential Mentor

  • In Thrive: From the Inside Out, Delton de Armas reveals the powerful paradox at the heart of his incarceration—finding joyful purpose in unexpected places. Delton has been a consistent witness to this truth in my life since God unexpectedly crossed our paths. Our conversations over the years have been marked by the same openness and wisdom that fill these pages. His journey shows how our greatest spiritual freedom can emerge when we have the courage to face the circumstances and beliefs that confine us. With compelling vulnerability, Delton demonstrates how sacrificial service becomes the surprising pathway to our own healing and freedom. His story isn’t just about surviving hardship—it’s a roadmap for anyone seeking to transform from surviving their greatest challenges to thriving in their most meaningful calling.

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's hard to imagine how a family's life can be interrupted for years due to a prison sentence and thrive. This book is a testimony to what is possible! Delton's gift of writing takes you behind the veil as the reader learns not only what prison life can be like, but how anyone can thrive under any seemingly overwhelming set of circumstances. You will be encouraged as you read, and challenged to do more with the time you already have.

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In a country that incarcerates more people than any other in the world, it's vital for Christians to confront the reality while offering a message of hope and joy. Delton de Armas has lived it, and he recounts his experience with clarity, insight, and a relentless optimism founded on his hope in the God who is with us. Highly recommend!

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There are so many jewels in this book, but what stands out to me more than even Delton's story is the truth in this paragraph: Whether you are facing illness or injury, divorce or betrayal, addiction or despair, job loss or financial ruin, grief or loneliness, failure or shame, injustice or regret--whatever suffering grips you, whatever heartache haunts you, whatever your current unpleasantness-- KNOW THIS: service to others is often the first step toward healing, purpose, and hope!

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

BOOM!!! I have been waiting for Delton's book for quite a while and it did not disappoint. Definitely worth the time to read and dive deep into Delton's world as he lost everything, except faith and family.

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Greatness. Delton’s insight to prison life and its affect on he and his family is very helpful and should be an encouragement to all. I was honored to have been able to purchase a copy to give to a family in my office complex as a testimony of God’s faithfulness.

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Highly recommend. A well-written autobiography from a man who faced challenging circumstances -- a five year federal prison sentence -- with inspiring courage, honesty, humor, and hope. The book provides moments that will surely encourage any reader in their own sufferings or tragedies, to encounter the God who is present with us and shaping us in the midst of life's challenges, if we surrender to Him. Readers will laugh and cry learning about life in federal prison, with its oddities, absurdities, and commonalities that impact way too many of us.

The truths he speaks into are not cliched ones, but those lived out by not only Delton, but his wife, Pam and their three kids. They all live outside themselves and purpose to serve others! They could have turned inward in their tragedy and despair allowing it to marginalize their mindset to that of a victim, but they looked up and faced out. They surrendered to what they faced, they learned to survive by thriving in a posture of looking up and out rather than down and in. We all have been incarcerated in something that has trapped us mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and like Delton, maybe even physically. It's not how we got to those places that matter as much as how we live in them and move beyond them. I could not be more proud of my friend for his vulnerability in sharing, but maybe more importantly his wisdom in how to surrender, survive and thrive in and through it all. This book is a good--NO GREAT--read! Get it today!

Thrive is a first hand account of the authors true story of juggling family, faith, and imprisonment. He handles a tough circumstance that could easily be view as injustice but instead walks through how he turned the experience into a testimony for meaning, faith and family. Using humor, prose, praise lyrics, and prose, Delton delivers a beautiful account on how to triumph through the mundane. A must for anyone who feels trapped or prisoner in aspect of their lives. Especially those finding it difficult to thrive in their current circumstances.

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m not a reader, but I could not put this book down. Delton never imagined his life would lead to a prison cell. Broken by poor decisions, weighed down by guilt, and surrounded by silence, he felt forgotten—by people, by the world, and maybe even by God. But prison wasn’t the end of Delton’s story. It was the beginning of something greater. Behind bars, Delton encountered the mercy of a God who never gave up on him. What once was a place of punishment became a place of preparation. Now that Delton is free, he’s not just living—he’s living with purpose. Delton is proof that no life is too far gone, no heart too hard, and no prison too deep for God’s grace to reach.

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So grateful for Delton’s vulnerability to share the story God laid out for him. It was such a gift to hear about his obedience and humble submission to the Lord. When trial comes, it’s so easy to become disgruntled or removed and refuse to see the Lord’s hand or the gifts along the way. This book is such a testament to Delton and the whole de Armas family’s willingness to look beyond their circumstances to the hope of eternity and how they can impact the world around them, whether in prison or in High School, for God’s glory, while also acknowledging with appropriate weight the real hardships they each experienced. I’m so grateful that Delton didn’t allow his story to end when he left prison, but that he has continued to say yes to the promptings of the Spirit to use his giftings and his story to serve those around him in the name of Jesus! What an incredible book to read and be spurred into action by!

Listen up.

I used an AI tool from Google to summarize my book in podcast form. This is the result.

I sent this to my nephew, and his said, “Fascinating on multiple levels. Great summary with naturally integrated specifics. Let someone listen to the first 8 minutes and they’ll want to read your book.”

I couldn’t have said it better…
